Quick Gluten Free Pizza

Pizza is a staple in our house. Our 5-year-old is the ultimate pizza aficionado, helping to add sauce, cheese, and ” green bits”, but the rest of us aren’t far behind. A delicious crust generously adorned with tantalizing sauce, topped with our favorite ingredients. It’s the perfect solution for picky eaters, especially when we get to add our favorite toppings.

There are two crust options that are current favorites. Gluten free pizza crust from Wholly  as well as their pizza dough has been the only choice for a few years but recently Carbonaut came out with a nice crust that is safe for 3 of 5 of us who can handle brown rice. It has rice bran which seems to be a problem for many with celiacs/wheat allergies, including my second kid and my husband.

You can experiment with the dough and crusts by adding various ingredients such as cheese, garlic, or even dried fruits to create different flavors and textures. The crusts are great for flat bread with hummus, or topped with butter or oil and herbs, even a replacement for naan.

Additionally, you can shape the dough into individual rolls or small breadsticks to serve alongside soups or salads. The versatility of it allows you to explore a wide range of possibilities.

The dough can be baked in a a loaf for appetizer bread or sliced for sandwiches. My favorite variation was turkey and egg breakfast sandwiches, similar to a fast food breakfast sandwich but safe for us, that kept in the fridge for several days. As with most gluten free bread it looses some of the preferred texture but time in the oven or toaster can bring most of that back.

What is your favorite pizza topping?
